Amtrak offers WiFi service on Acela trains

March 01, 2010

Amtrak has launched Internet service aboard 20 high-speed Acela Express trains. The service is available to passengers in business and first classes.

Internet service also is available in six major stations along the Northeast Corridor (Washington, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Boston, New York and Providence, R.I.) and in all four ClubAcela lounges (Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Boston).

Amtrak’s Internet service will be free during an undefined introductory period. This policy will be reviewed based on customer demand and the system’s performance, said Amtrak.

The Internet service was deployed by GBS Group and Nomad Digital.
