Orbitz loses $337 million in 2009

February 23, 2010

Orbitz Worldwide closed 2009 with an $18 million net loss in the fourth quarter and a $337 million net loss for the entire year.

In comparison, Orbitz reported an $8 million net profit in the fourth quarter of 2008 and a $299 million loss for all of that year.

In 2009, Orbitz's net revenue dropped 15%, to $738 million.

The company said the elimination of booking fees for domestic air, a reduction in hotel booking fees and lower hotel rates contributed to the revenue decline.
